Fans are rallying behind NCT's Taeyong after he continued to receive negative criticism for his past bullying allegations.
NCTzens took to social media to trend the hashtag #AlwaysHereforTaeyong and #태용이의_사랑은_툥프들이_알아 which translates to "We Know Taeyong's Love" to voice their support for the NCT and SuperM member.
It can be recalled that last year, Taeyong was the subject of criticism after a former schoolmate shared on social media that he was a victim of Taeyong's homophobic statements and bullying in middle school. The post became viral online leading to public censure for Taeyong's bad behavior.
Instead of denying the allegations, Taeyong admitted to his wrongdoings and sought out his former classmate to seek a personal apology. During the meeting, the classmate said that even as he made his pain public, he was even more hurt that people who defended Taeyong accused him of lying.
During their talk, Taeyong expressed regret over the incident and said the never felt at ease over it. He admitted that he often questioned himself about behaving that way in the past. After having a two-hour heart to heart talk, the former classmates parted ways peacefully and wished each other well in their future paths, Koreaboo reported.
However, last April, reports surfaced that bullying victim attempted to commit suicide after he was continuously harassed by NCT fans after his meeting with Taeyong.
The person who posted the hospital report about the attempted suicide attempt of the bullying victim claimed that the person felt ambushed during the meeting because instead of a private talk, there was a reporter present to document the apology. He also said that SM Entertainment lawyers also came to meet with the victim, making him feel helpless to defend himself, All Kpop reported.
The poster further claimed that even after the apology news, NCT fans continued to harass the victim on social media and accused him of lying. The harassment allegedly went as far as a robbery and an invasion of his personal space, which led to the suicide attempt. He asked why fans were accusing the victim of lying only to protect the Kpop idol.
Fans earlier trended the hashtag #ProtectTaeyong to ask SM Entertainment to protect Taeyong against false accusations. They continued to trend hashtags to support Taeyong and flooded social media with reasons they continue to believe in Taeyong. They vowed to stand behind Taeyong despite the negative reports to support, All Kpop reported.
