Cher is rumored to be very sick because of a rare disease. The speculations about the singer's health emerged after Cher made a comment on Twitter.
The Globe published a rather disturbing claim this week with a headline that read: "Sick Cher Knocking On Heaven's Door." The tabloid implied that Cher is ill and can't get out of bed.
It cited a source, which is a supposed friend of Cher, who claimed that the "Believe" singer is on "death's door" after she tweeted recently that she was very sick to attend the recent protests on injustice and systematic racism following the death of George Floyd. In her tweet, Cher expressed her disappointment for failing to join protesters on the street because she is sick but added that she is closely watching the demonstrations across the U.S. on TV.
The source alleged that Cher wouldn't miss a protest unless she absolutely couldn't get up. It added that everyone is now convinced that the iconic singer is her deathbed.
The Globe noted how Cher has been dealing with the Epstein-Barr virus since the 1980s which has now left her depressed and "bedridden" for months. Then it quoted a life span expert who claimed that people who suffer from chronic fatigue can keep that disease for the rest of their lives and concluded that it may not be much longer for Cher.
Gossip Cop quickly debunked the Globe story. It stressed that Cher is not dying and the singer's rep also denied the new speculation about the Burlesque star.
The outlet also pointed out that Cher is not sick at all, citing the singer's post on Twitter last week wherein she shared some photos of her while out and about. She also released a new song last month for UNICEF.
Cher has also been very active on social media. She posts messages mostly about her disgust to the Trump administration.
Gossip Cop also noted that this wasn't the first time that Globe made a false claim about Cher. Back in October 2018, it was also alleged that Cher and Tom Cruise were dating again. The two had a brief fling over 30 years ago but since then they never got back together.
Last year, it also claimed that the supposed romance between Cher and Cruise was finally over. Gossip Cop also debunked the rumor since the two never rekindled the romance at all.
