Katie Holmes almost got married to Chris Klein. The two had a five-year romance and new rumors indicated that they have "reunited."

New Idea published a story this week suggesting Holmes and Klein are back together with its headline "Katie Holmes and Chris Klein Reunited." The inside story, however, suggested otherwise.

The tabloid claimed the Dawson's Creek actress found a renewed interest in her ex-fiancé after she watched him on Netflix romance drama, Sweet Magnolias. Holmes is, allegedly, bored to death while quarantining with her family in Toledo and has been binging TV shows while staying at home.

Apparently, Holmes saw Klein while binge-watching Netflix TV series. The Batman Begins actress, reportedly, got hooked on Sweet Magnolias after she found out that Klein was one of the main actors in the show. The tabloid added Holmes has her "eyes" on the American Pie actor as he is now sober and has gotten back his life in order.

A source of the tabloid claimed Katie has been sending Chris friendly text messages, saying how she likes his show. Some people who, allegedly, know the two would like the former lovers to give it a try again, now that they are both grown up and matured.

Gossip Cop, however, dismissed the New Idea story as pure speculation. The outlet stressed that the idea of Katie falling in love and rekindling romance with her ex-fiance after watching him on TV was just ridiculous, not to mention Klein is married to Laina Rose Thyfault.

Holmes and Klein started dating in January 2000. Three years later, they got engaged. However, the couple called off the engagement and ended their relationship in March 2005, just a month after Klein was arrested for drunk driving in San Diego County.

Months later, the world was shocked when Tom Cruise announced in June 2005 that he proposed to Holmes at the top of the Eiffel Tower. The pair got married the following year.

As for Klein, he married Thyfault in 2015. The couple has two children together.

Klein was arrested again for drunk driving in June 2010. A few days later, it was announced that he had checked into a drug addiction treatment facility in Utah for a 30-day alcohol addiction program.

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop added that this is not the first time the New Idea tried to link Holmes to another actor. Back in September 2019, the tabloid claimed there was a brewing romance between the Ray Donovan actress and Liam Hemsworth.

The speculation started when Holmes served as Ambassadors for McHappy Day in Australia. New Idea alleged Hemsworth's sister-in-law, Elsa Pataky, was planning on hooking up the two Hollywood stars since both of them support the same charity organization. The story, however, has proven to be fabricated.
