Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties, Kate Middleton and Prince William have, reportedly, been given more to do. But Kate is not one to complain about her added workload, according to a friend.
A Tatler story alleged that Kate is overwhelmed and resentful of Prince Harry and Meghan for dumping their royal duties on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The magazine reported that Kate feels stressed out by the extra responsibilities, along with other revelations that supposedly explained the distance between the Cambridges and the Sussexes.
However, a source told People that this is further from the truth. According to royal biographer Sarah Gristwood, Kate's friends know how much she embraces her royal role but she's also not superhuman to ignore the pressure and the workload.
A source also told the news outlet that Prince William and Kate do get a phenomenal workload because the older members of the royal family cannot do all of it. The source agreed that there is pressure for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but Kate actually resents the story that she is struggling with this.
Kate is said to pursuing a legal action against the Tatler story because it is a "total misrepresentation of the truth." Lawyers of Kensington Palace apparently wrote the news outlet a letter asking them to take down the story on Kate but Tatler is standing by their report.
Meanwhile, experts said that as someone who is going to be the future Queen of England, there are so many expectations around Kate. She has to be a flawless role model, a supportive wife, a hands-on mother, an advocate for charity, a style icon, among many other expectations.
It is also not just the U.K. watching Kate's every move, but the world. So, being under this spotlight can be jarring that everything Kate does has to be calculated consciously to preserve her public image.
Even Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are, reportedly, watching Kate and Prince William with much interest because they will become the future monarchs. They are hoping that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will learn from the mistakes of the other members of the royal family and avoid going through the same embarrassments. Sources, however, said that the Queen is pleased with the efforts of Kate and Prince William, especially in this coronavirus crisis.
