WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for The Order season 2. Read at your own risk.
Netflix recently dropped The Order season 2, and many were now wondering whether or not the American horror-drama is coming back for more. Since the new installment has just arrived, details about The Order season 3 remain scarce. For now, here's what we know so far.
As of this writing, Netflix hasn't yet officially renewed or canceled The Order season 3. It's difficult to predict the future of the series, given that the streaming service has a history of canceling shows. It can be noted that the series didn't have an enormous promotion, so there is a concern here.
Typically, Netflix looks at how well a series has done within its first month before making an announcement. Perhaps, we could expect the decision of the streaming serving around July 2020. What viewers need to do now is to binge-watch the new season to make sure there's a demand for the series.
But if ever the series will be renewed, we can't expect The Order season 3 anytime soon. It seems like there's another 15-month gap between the second and the third installment. In addition, due to the current global health crisis, it's very likely the arrival of the new season will be delayed.
Even if the renewal happens, one of the major challenges of the series is figuring out when to start filming. There are a lot of uncertainties at the moment because of the COVID-19 outbreak. If ever, the installment will arrive in late 2021, probably either September or December.
Meanwhile, The Order season 2 ended with a huge cliffhanger. Jack was able to convince Alyssa to meet up with Vera. Then, she gained access to the Fors Factorum incantation, allowing her to seal the eruptions. Initially, the fusion of knowledge and power seemed to save the day.
Lilith Bathory returned from a trans-dimensional hellscape. But then, werewolf Gabrielle Dupres attacked Alyssa under the control of Midnight. The latter is one of the Hides of The Knights of Saint Christopher. This story is something that will further be explored.
In The Order season 3, Jack will likely restore some sort of order through the magical Vade Maecum Infernal. He may not also spend some time in the collective unconscious realm. As for Alyssa, expect her to overcome her injuries although she knew her powers could be ultimately cancerous.
Vera, on the other hand, may regain her magic. However, she'll be forced to come up with a few compromises. Lilith isn't pleased that she was taken away from her fellow demons, which could lead to some action-packed sequence in the potential The Order season 3.
