In the latest move Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made to step away from the Royal Family, an expert revealed they had to share stories about their royal lives to earn millions. The Sussexes recently signed with the high-profile agency, Harry Walker Agency, that handles the likes of former first couples of the United States, Barack and Michelle Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first big business move since they set foot in Los Angeles after they officially stepped down as senior royals in March. Although insiders claimed that the couple would never say anything bad about the Royal Family, royal expert Ingrid Seward believed that they had to tell stories about their lives when they were still part of the Firm to "justify their fees."
According to Mirror Online, Ingrid said that no one would be interested in paying for only hearing them talking about gender equality and the environment. They, reportedly, said that it would now their sole focus to make some efforts on social issues, like social injustice, in line with the Black Lives Matter movement. They would also highlight different subjects, such as gender equality, mental health, and environmental issues.
However, Ingrid insisted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to "up their ante" and "absolutely" tell some stories about the Royal Family. There were reports that the two would give speeches "either together or individually," although it remained to be seen what their speaking fees would be.
Former President Barack Obama, reportedly, earned almost £320,000 for his one speech in 2017. The Clintons, alternatively, nearly got £200,000 in their every appearance in 2014.
A source close to both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed their move when they signed with the agency. The industry insiders believed that the work would earn them millions, as they continued to seek financial independence after they left the monarchy. Hence, they might be seen as keynote speakers with "big money corporations and community forums" in the near future.
Meanwhile, Lady Colin Campbell called Prince Harry "pathetic," claiming his wife would make him "miserable" in her new book, Meghan and Harry: The Real Story. Page Six reported that the 70-year-old author claimed that the sixth in line to the throne would be "too weak" to leave Meghan Markle, who, allegedly, caused him to "lose most of his friends."
She also called the former actress "a total opportunist," who knew that she would continue to embark on commercial ventures, despite the royalty's prohibition. Campbell continued that Prince Harry was "weaker" than his wife, having "no strength of character to leave her."
