Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they announced back in January that they will be stepping down from their roles to focus on their family and charities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also explained that they wished to be “financially independent,” and have a more “peaceful life.”

Even though Queen Elizabeth eventually released a statement that she and the Royal Family support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision, the couple was still set to face the consequences of their actions. It was later revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will lose their HRH titles and the Prince’s military titles. The couple is also banned from using the word “royal” in their future ventures.

But before the terms, Queen Elizabeth summoned senior royals for a face-to-face talk to Sandringham to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s withdrawal and their future roles. A report claimed that the Duchess of Sussex did not attend the meeting but wanted to be a part of it via telephone. However, Her Majesty did not allow her request.

"Apparently, Meghan was going to be on speakerphone,” Fox News royal reporter Neil Sean said on Channel 5 documentary, William and Kate: Too Good to be True. "Well, the Queen put paid to that. So Harry had to face the music on his own."

After the discussion, the Palace shared that Queen Elizabeth described the talk as “very constructive.” It also revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will go through a “period transition.”

Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially stepped down from their senior royal roles at the end of March. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently residing in Los Angeles with their son Archie, where they are making a fresh start.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a lot of hopes after their big move to the US. The couple was even speculated to be joining the Hollywood scene since the Duchess of Sussex was an actress before tying the knot with the younger son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana in 2018.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also announced the name of their new foundation Archewell back in April. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.
