October is a momentous month for the Lakers fans. Around that time, they'll get to know if the decision to pair Anthony Davis with LeBron James did pay off, that is if the team is crowned the NBA champions. Also in the same period, AD will have to decide to just sign an extension with Los Angeles or enter free agency.

Both events are worthy of anticipation but the focus, for now, is how things are perceived to work out for Davis, whose entry to the Lakers organization at the start of the season provided the boost required for a successful title run. That goal appears to be a reality shaping up for the Lakers and fans will surely want the big man to keep playing for the team.

According to Silver Screen & Roll, multiple scenarios could play out for AD's dealings with the Lakers. It is a reality that the superstar can just leave and not continue with the club anymore, and such a decision will be prompted by how the Lakers would perform when the season is restarted.

James and AD are seen to appear in the 2020 NBA Finals but it's not written in stone. Yes, it can happen but there is no assurance that the Lakers will win. It has been a difficult season for the league but it's one of the most exciting, and that's because there are many title contenders.

If the Lakers' attempt this season to win the Larry O'Brien will again prove a disappointment, it could be a reason for Davis to walk away. Or he can just play safe and consider things for the long term.

Per the same report, Davis can opt out but stick with the Lakers by signing a one-year deal with an expected pay rise. Then he can jump to the open market again in 2021 and negotiate a super-max, not necessarily but preferably with the Lakers.

Staying where he is makes sense not only for AD but also for other players. Given the global health crisis sparked by the novel coronavirus and the social unrest gripping the United States at these times, there is too much uncertainty out there, according to Fadeaway World.

Citing the analysis offered by Nate Loop of Bleacher Report, the report said Davis can for a bold move when he becomes a free agent but prudence dictates that he should be playing safe.

"Davis could also test the waters, but with so much uncertainty surrounding the league for the foreseeable future, sticking with the Lakers seems like the safest bet," Loop was reported as saying.

Playing safe is not a bad thing at all considering the complications that continue to unfold. For Davis, choosing to be safe translates to continued collaboration with James, taking home a handsome pay, and enjoy the high possibility of winning one or two NBA rings in the few years to come.
