It's no secret that The New Mutants is that one movie that can't seem to catch a break. Although the X-Men spin-off was originally expected to premiere back in 2018, the film has yet to get a theatrical release due to repeated delays. So is it possible that the Maisie Williams will once again get pushed back in favor of a major title? There are speculations that The New Mutants will need to be delayed yet again as Disney has decided to push the premiere of Mulan to August.

Disney has just confirmed that the premiere of Mulan will be pushed back to August 21 due to increasing cases of COVID-19 across the United States. The film, which was already scheduled for release on July 24, was expected to be the first major movie to get a worldwide theatrical release after the coronavirus outbreak. However, with more cases being reported around the globe, the House of Mouse has decided to push its premiere back for the safety of moviegoers. The decision comes only a few days after Warner Bros. announced that its own film Tenet will be moved to an August release.

Disney executives Alan Horn and Alan Bergman issued a statement about the delay of Mulan's premiere.

"While the pandemic has changed our release plans for Mulan and we will continue to be flexible as conditions require, it has not changed our belief in the power of this film and its message of hope and perseverance," the statement reads. "Director Niki Caro and our cast and crew have created a beautiful, epic, and moving film that is everything the cinematic experience should be, and that's where we believe it belongs-on the world stage and the big screen for audiences around the globe to enjoy together."

The new release date for Mulan might seem like good news for fans who are eager to watch the reboot in theaters. However, it has also led to major concern for people who are looking forward to The New Mutants. Since Mulan's new premiere date is set in late August, fans are worried that Disney will choose to push The New Mutants back to September or even later in the year.

For now, Disney has not yet confirmed whether The New Mutants will be delayed. However, fans are already bracing themselves for the worst.

Mulan is now scheduled for release on August 21. The New Mutants will then hit theaters (hopefully) a week later on August 28.
