Barcelona's 2-2 draw match against Celta Vigo on Saturday attracted attention because of two things. First, the game highlighted the seeming struggle of the Barca squad to score a win over a perceived beleaguered opponent. Then how Lionel Messi treated one of his club's coaching staff triggered talks of an alleged disconnection between players and Quique Setien's backroom personnel.

For failure to bring home the points, Barcelona ceded the La Liga lead to rivals Real Madrid but the stories generated by Barca's last game appeared to focus on Messi's behavior. The Argentine superstar was caught on camera essentially ignoring assistant coach Eder Sarabia.

According to Give Me Sport, a clip shared on social media showed Sarabia attempting to have a word with the Barcelona captain but the latter seemed not listening. Seconds later, Messi walked away from Sarabia who continued speaking and looking dismayed at the same time.

The scene caught fire with football fans and many disapproved of Messi's action through their online posts. The general interpretation was all is not well with Messi and Setien's backroom people, and it would seem that the latter is powerless to take decisive actions.

The expectation is Messi deserved to be disciplined but doing so seemed impossible as he is seen as a powerful figure in the club.

The report can only speculate that if Messi cannot work with Sarabia then one of them has to go. And it's unthinkable on the part of Camp Nou to side with Setien's assistant. The most possible scenario is Messi will apologize but Sarabia will be unable to continue with the club.

It's a case of choosing between the club superstar and a regular employee, and surely for Barcelona, the choice is easy.

When asked about the incident, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone declined to comment on matters that he described as affairs outside of his dressing room and therefore not his business to talk about.

While stressing that it's not his place to discuss what is going on with Barca, the Atletico boss said tension within a club is best addressed by taking care of the emotional concerns of the players.

"The most important thing is to manage, in my team, the emotional part, which I consider to be the key part," Goal reported Simeone as saying.

Simeone added that his approach in handling problems in the locker room is to talk with the person involved and listen to the issues raised over a cup of coffee. In this, Setien might be wise to consider having a word with Messi to fully grasp the issue at hand.
