Although there's still uncertainty at the moment, Magnum P.I. season 3 is officially coming on CBS. The writers' room for the upcoming installment is already underway. And now, we could learn more about as to when filming could begin.
In a recent report via Deadline, Magnum P.I. season 3 is expected to start filming at some point in August. That means it is the first primetime network production to come back at work in the United States. However, it should also be noted that everything is subjected to change.
Still, the series films in Hawaii, which has contained the spread of the coronavirus. The island is in a positive shape right now, though there are health measures that needed to be followed. For instance, a 14-day quarantine is required for those who are coming.
If ever Magnum P.I. season 3 starts filming in August, then we could get the premiere date later on. While September is unlikely, CarterMatt noted we could see the new installment coming either October or November. But then, things could still change depending on the situation.
Magnum P.I. season 3 is part of the CBS fall schedule. But then, the network is not specifying as to when the series will officially return on the small screen. Although it was listed in the fall, there is no guarantee as to when it will arrive.
As for what we can expect in the upcoming season, some have been hoping a more Hawaii Five-0 crossover. One of the characters that could make an appearance is Katrina Law's Quinn Liu. In the previous crossover of both shows, potential chemistry between her and Rick has been hinted.
However, one of the major challenges here is finding the right story to include Quinn back in the story. It's difficult to make something between the two unless Law's character sticks around and becomes a series regular. The actress's availability is another challenge.
Aside from the Hawaii Five-0 crossover, Magnum P.I. season 3 could have a MacGyver crossover, as well. Mac and Magnum could be friends instantly. It's would be great seeing the two working together and teaming up on a particular case.
The two could share different stories and band together to take down common enemies. But then, there's also a challenge when it comes to this particular crossover. Both shows film on different locations, so it would be difficult to gather the cast in one place. Also, scheduling could be an issue.
