After being disappointed by the initial delays in the subunit debut of Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi, SM Entertainment stressed fans out once again after the delayed release of the MV for Monster.

According to a report by Koreaboo, the original debut date of Red Velvet's first subunit was originally scheduled for mid-June but the delays pushed back the date to July 6.The video was supposed to be released on July 6 at 6 pm but a last minute statement from SM Entertainment informed Reveluvs the MV was going to be delayed.The announcement did not elaborate on the exact reason for the delay, irking fans who have been waiting to stream the video. The release of the album on streaming platforms went according to schedule.

After six 12 hours of delay, SM finally posted Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi's Monster and it seemed to appease the anger of fans because of its beautiful interpretation of Irene and Seulgi's struggle with their inner monsters, All Kpop reported.

The team behind Monster hit the mark in delivering dark, dazzling, abstract visuals that complemented the song's message.In the comments thread, fans were also healthily debating whether the MV has any connection to homosexuality. There were also those who believed that the song was more about how people deal with their inner demons. Some fans earlier believed that SM had to do extra editing on the video to minimize the dark and violent content because of YouTube's current policies.

It was also surprising to see fans from different fandoms support Irene and Seulgi's new music as they encouraged all fandoms to unite in supporting all of their idols together.

It also seems that Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi have impressed fans all over the world with their debut because their first mini-album Monster has taken over the iTunes charts in 45 regions including Malaysia, Philippines, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

It also topped the charts in Canada, France, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Peru, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, New Zealand, Israel, Cambodia, Brunei, Macao, Kazakhstan, Oman, Sri Lanka, Laos, Colombia, Bahrain, Turkey, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Egypt, and the Dominican Republic. Monster also performed well in terms of physical album sales as it placed on the top spot of the Hanteo, Synnara Record, and Yes24 charts. Monster also topped the chart in Korea's real-time charts like bugs, VIBE and Momole, Soompi reported.
