Apple for the very first time hosted an online-only Worldwide Developers Conference in June during which iOS 14 was announced. The company wasted no time boasting off the new iPhone operating system's features, but it left out some few important ones, and that's what we're going to discuss here.

iOS 14 includes a huge makeover of the iPhone's home screen, better widgets, picture-in-picture video, a new interface for Siri, and a new way to organize your apps called App Library. Along with these features are a new translation app and the ability to use your iPhone to unlock your car.

But as how Apple does it, it left out a few iOS features from the keynote -- Apple folks love doing this for some reason. Here they are:

Enhanced audio for Voice Memos

The Voice Memo app has got some new tools for organizing audio recordings thanks to iOS 14. And to make your recordings sound better, there's a new Enhance Recording feature.

A quicker way to take photos

iOS 14 brings enhancements to the Camera app so you can take first shots faster and better shot-to-shot performance too. One feature that's particularly exciting allows you to lock in your exposure separately from the focus, which means even before you capture a scene, you can already fine-tune your photo.

Put third-party apps on default

Now, this is one pretty amazing iOS 14 feature. The new OS allows you to use non-native Apple apps as the default browser or email app for your iPhone. This means you can set Gmail as your default email app and Chrome your default browser. This feature is something iOS users have been begging Apple for years.

The way it works is that a developer has to flag if their app is a browser or email app. Note that for now, this feature only works for browser and email apps, so if you're keen on setting Google Maps as default, there's no way of doing that, at least not yet.

iOS 14 was officially announced on June 22, but Apple didn't mention when it would officially launch but noted it would be this autumn. Based on previous launches though, there's a reason to believe it would be released to the public sometime in September. We're betting second or third week.
