Following the success of her drama Crash Landing on You, Son Ye Jin is poised to make her Hollywood debut with Avatar star Sam Worthington through the movie Cross.

According to Son Ye Jin's agency MS Team Entertainment, an offer was made to Son Ye Jin to star in the film and she is looking favorably to doing it. They said that unless there will be major changes, she would be accepting the role very soon, Soompi reported.

Another Korean actor who was offered a role in the Hollywood film is Parasite actor Lee Sun Gyun. His agency, HODU&U Entertainment, also confirmed that the actor received a casting offer for Cross. They said that Lee Sun Gyun has not decided to accept the role yet.

It was reported that Lee Sun Gyun has been offered the role of the powerful chief of border protection.

Cross is a film that will be helmed by In TimeGattaca and The Host director Andrew Niccol. The film will revolve around a futuristic society wherein a multiracial country is divided into two nations that is separated by status. Star News reported that the director, who also write the screenplay for Jim Carrey's The Truman Show, personally handpicked Son Ye Jin for a key part in his upcoming movie. Niccol was reportedly inspired to film a movie in Korea after visiting the country last year.

If Son Ye Jin agrees to accept the role, she will play the character of Vera, a single mother who lives in the border of the poor nation after her husband is killed trying to cross to the other side.

While Son Ye Jin's projects have been leaning more towards romantic comedies and heavy dramas, she is no stranger to do excelling in other roles as well. She did action films like The Negotiation, Bad Guys Always Die, adventure film The Pirates, and disaster movie The Tower, which had the audience in the edge of their seats.

Sam Worthington, who is best known for his role in James Cameron's Avatar, as well as the 2017 series Manhunt which was based on the Unabomber attacks in the 1990s, will be playing the role of a citizen from the wealthy nation.

If talks pan out, Cross is looking to start filming in Korea in March 2021.
