Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documentary called Harry & Meghan: An African Journey aired last year, and they revealed a lot of things about the trip and themselves as well. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave their most candid interviews to date in the ITV program.

One of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s revelation was their desire to live in South Africa. The Duke of Sussex toyed with the idea of swapping Frogmore Cottage in Windsor for life in South Africa. The couple has not announced their withdrawal from royal life at the time of the interview.

Prince Harry had always loved South Africa and even referred to it as his “second home.” He, Prince Charles, and Prince William even escaped to the country after the traumatic death of Princess Diana in 1997.

But despite Prince Harry’s love for South Africa, he told Tom Bradby during the 2019 ITV documentary that it would be “very hard” to move there due to the issues with living in the Commonwealth nation.

“With all the problems that are going on there, I just don’t see how we would be able to make as much difference as we want to without the issues and the judgment of how we would with those surroundings,” he said.

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter previously said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving to South Africa with Archie is far from happening. She pointed out that there are so many things to consider if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will indeed move to South Africa.

Victoria Arbiter also stated that even though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are wealthy as a couple and as individuals, their money is not going to be the issue. What concerns her is who would pay for their security.

This is exactly the issue that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been facing after quitting their senior royal roles. After their big move to the U.S., President Donald Trump made it clear that the U.S. government will not shoulder their security bills.

An earlier report then claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are asking Prince Charles to pay for their security bills. The Prince of Wales, allegedly, agreed to pay for the couple’s round the clock security.

The insider said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expected that British taxpayers would continue paying for their security bills. But after knowing that this will not happen, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked Prince Charles to "step in."
