But, as for Kate Middleton, she wanted to be her authentic self during her royal wedding. So instead of hiring the services of a professional makeup artist, she opted to do her own makeup.
Before her wedding day, Kate Middleton took private lessons with Arabella Preston. She then used what she has learned and applied it on the day she said her “I do” to Prince William, which was witnessed live by 36 million people.
“She’s had about three or four lessons with Kate at her private flat in Chelsea and has also gone, very privately to Clarence House. Arabella was supposed to be coming on the day as well but now she isn’t, because Kate’s comfortable and confident in doing it herself,” wedding planner Mark Niemierko told PEOPLE.
While the report said that Queen Elizabeth was shocked by Kate Middleton’s move, Her Majesty’s right-hand woman and long-term dressmaker, Angela Kelly, shared that the Monarch also does her own makeup everyday. However, she hired professionals for the recording of her famous Christmas speech.
Meanwhile, being royal means you have a lot of people under you who can do things for you, but Kate Middleton doesn’t always grab this opportunity, especially when it comes to her children. In 2018, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted stuck in traffic on her way to pick Prince George up from school. The shocking part? She didn’t have a chauffeur with her and was driving her Range Rover herself.
With a net worth of $10 million, Kate Middleton can afford anything she wants. But, Prince William’s wife is quite frugal and has been spotted buying bargains during her trip at the grocery store. This is also a very commoner move.
