Queen Elizabeth has broken her silence and revealed the joy she felt after her granddaughter, Princess Beatrice, went ahead with her secret wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on July 17.

The Queen was heard saying that Princess Beatrice's private and small-scale royal wedding, which had 20 guests only, was a "very nice" family occasion. She, reportedly, revealed the good news to Capt. Tom Moore and his family during his investiture as a knight, which took place on the same day as the wedding.

Queen Elizabeth was able to attend the ceremony, despite the coronavirus lockdown, because Princess Beatrice and her new husband specifically chose to get married in Windsor, where the Queen has been isolating since the middle of March.  Specifically, Princess Beatrice and Edo exchanged vows at The Royal Chapel of All Saints near the Royal Lodge, the home of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

The royal wedding was, originally, supposed to take place at The Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace in London on May 29. But, large gatherings were no longer permitted since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, the couple was forced to shift their plans.

Had there been no pandemic, Princess Beatrice and Edo would have enjoyed a bigger wedding with a private reception at the Buckingham Palace's gardens. This was supposed to be a gift from Queen Elizabeth as no royal family wedding celebrations have taken place in Buckingham Palace since Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011.

However, in April, Buckingham Palace announced the cancellation of all events at the gardens until the unforeseeable future. The Queen also moved out of her official home to stay isolated in her country estate with Prince Philip.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth plans to leave Windsor for Balmoral in Scotland by August and remain there until October. This was also one of the reasons why Princess Beatrice and Edo had to have their wedding this week before the Queen prepares to move to her other residence.

Reports stated that the Queen will be taken to Balmoral by helicopter. It's still unclear if Prince Philip will also join her in her summer home and it is now known if other members of the royal family are going to visit the Queen in Balmoral.

Prior to the pandemic, Prince Harry and Meghan made plans to bring Archie and spend the summer with Queen Elizabeth. But, since travel restrictions are quite different these days, there's uncertainty over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be able to fly back from Los Angeles to the U.K. to join Queen Elizabeth.
