The Black Label, recently, released Jeon Somi's comeback teaser for What You Waiting For but shortly after it was uploaded online, the video mysteriously disappeared.
According to a report by All Kpop, fans were baffled as to why the label would take down the video so they immediately sought an explanation from the agency. Jeon Somi, personally, went on Instagram Live to explain the situation.
According to the artist, she was also very upset when she first found out that the teaser was gone and asked the Black Label staff what happened. Based on the staff, the YouTube account of Black Label was hacked and the hacker deleted the third teaser of her comeback.
Fortunately, the agency's team was able to recover control of the account, and they were able to reupload the third teaser of What You Waiting For. Jeon Somi asked her fans to watch and rewatch it before she, formally, makes her comeback on July 22.
As Jeon Somi prepares for her comeback stage, she is also preparing for her entry to the American music scene by signing with Interscope Records, Soompi reported.
According to Black Label, Jeon Somi signed under Interscope Records, which is under Universal Music Group, to manage her career in the U.S. and overseas. With this development, Somi joins the stable of international artists under Interscope Records including BLACKPINK, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Maroon 5, Madonna, U2, The Black Eyed Peas, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish and Elle Goulding, whi are also managed by the American agency.
In his statement, Interscope Executive Vice President Sam Riback said that they are happy to have Jeon Somi as part of their growing family. Riback said that they believe that Jeon Somi is going to be the next breakout star because of her unique and worldly approach to music. He also said that they are happy to continue their relationship with Black Label, and YG Entertainment.
It can be recalled that Jeon Somi made her debut as a solo artist under YG's sub-agency The Black Label last year with her single Birthday. During her recent debut anniversary, she said that she was looking forward to becoming a fun artist who manages to deliver something new with each comeback. She said she wants fans to always be curious about what kind of concept and performance they can expect from her. As for her joining Interscope Records, she expressed excitement about joining the label and said she cannot wait to share her music with the world.
