Mesut Ozil has yet to appear with Arsenal since the football games in Europe were resumed last June and the expectation is he could be out of the club soon. The German, however, has maintained he will remain with the Gunners until the end of his contract.

Ozil's deal with Arsenal will end in less than a year and the playmaker is unlikely to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the expiration date. According to Ian Wright, the 31-year-old will be out of the club with no prospect of making the squad under team manager Mikel Arteta.

The Arsenal legend said Arteta's issue with the World Cup winner is all about attitude. Wright said the Spanish boss has allowed his players to prove their worth and become part of the squad. But it would seem Ozil's mindset no longer syncs with that of his coach.

"I believe that he's somebody that's gone from Arsenal whether he stays or Mikel gets rid of him, we're not going to see much of him," Metro reported Wright as saying.

The club hero pointed to Dani Ceballos as a good example of having the right attitude and gaining the trust of the manager. The Spanish midfielder struggled first with Arteta but made the necessary adjustments and is now part of the Gunners first-team.

Wright said he could not see Ozil doing the same, adding he can only conclude that the German is not in the future plans of Arteta.

Such a scenario was practically confirmed by Arteta, who indicated he is unsure if Ozil will ever wear the Arsenal shirt again on the pitch. The Spaniard, however, explained that Ozil enjoys the same opportunity extended to all members of the team.

The manager said Ozil still trains with the team but the player making the squad is a decision that will be made daily.

"I have to select him, and I have 24 players to do that in the squad. At the moment he's not being selected ... He has the same chances as everybody else," the Mirror reported Arteta as saying.

Ozil has already ruled out the possibility of joining up with Fenerbahce but per the same report, another Turkish club might be interested to sign up the Arsenal star. Likely in the cards is a move to Istanbul Basaksehir with the side reportedly keen on hiring the German should he decides to part ways with Arsenal.

It is believed that after his career at the Emirates, Ozil will head to Turkey next as his wife is a native of the country and has a thriving career there as an actress.

Signing up the German star, however, could prove problematic due to his weekly wage of £350,000. The amount is deemed too high for a footballer already in his 30s.
