Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement officially saying that they did not have any contributions to the upcoming biography, Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are, reportedly, distancing themselves from the book amid concerns from Buckingham Palace.

A representative of Prince Harry and Meghan issued a statement saying that the Sussexes were not interviewed for Finding Freedom. The rep also said that the book is "based on the authors' own experiences" while covering the royal family.

The statement comes as the book excerpts will reportedly be released this weekend, sparking worries that it will raise further tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family. Insiders told Daily Mail that Prince Harry and Meghan learned the books' authors, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, reached out to people close to them as their sources.

The Daily Mail's Rebecca English alleged that there were a number of meetings between the authors and their sources from inside the palace. But, when Prince Harry and Meghan realized that the biography was going to idealize their royal life, they reportedly "decided to kill it with kindness."

Another source also told Daily Mail that the book will likely raise fireworks. A well-placed figure in the palace, apparently, believes that the details of the book are guaranteed to make headlines, regardless if it's true or not.

However, the book will appear like Prince Harry and Meghan are airing their grievances in public. Finding Freedom will be viewed from their own terms and their take on what actually transpired when they decided to step back from their royal roles.

Finding Freedom will also expound on earlier speculations that Prince Harry wanted out of the royal family for some time. The couple, allegedly, planned their exit nine months before they made a public statement in January 2020, expressing their decision to step back.

People close to Prince Harry and Meghan were, apparently, disappointed by their announcement, especially after the royal family made every adjustment to protect the couple. Sources said that the Sussexes were being stubborn and completely convinced that they were doing the right thing.

Finding Freedom is set to hit store shelves in August. Scobie is the Editor of Harper's Bazaar magazine and has extensively covered Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton. Durand, on the other hand, is a royal contributor for Oprah and Elle magazines.
