Sandara Park is ready to make her debut as a solo artist more than three years after 2NE1's disbandment in 2016. The YG artist recently announced that she will release a single next month.

According to a report by All Kpop, Dara surprised her fans with the announcement and some snippets from the filming for her music video.

The news took BLACKJACKs by surprise because they, originally, believed that they were only watching one of Dara's typical vlog entries as she prepared for her appearance on the stage musical Another Oh Hae Young.

The title, also, left no clue about her surprise announcement since the July 27 entry only said "Am I gonna be Produce 101? with the disclaimer that it was just another messy vlog that she filmed for her DaraTV YouTube channel.

As usual, Dara shared some footage about her first venture into musical theater. The former 2NE1 member said she prepared for two months for the role and was excited to show off the fruits of her hard work. She, also, got her co-stars involved in the vlog.

The video later shifts to Dara practicing for JeA's new song with choreographer Bae Yoon Jung.

Dara left her bombshell for later in the vlog when she appeared and showed the set of her MV filming as well as a clip of her singing.

BLACKJACKs who have long awaited her comeback expressed elation over Dara's upcoming comeback.

It can be recalled that, since 2NE1's disbandment in 2016, Dara has been the only one who has not been able to debut as a solo artist. Minzy was the first one to launch her solo career with the release of her album UNO under Music Works. She has since parted with the label and released her comeback track Lovely in May.

After some confusion about her affiliation with Teddy Park's The Black Label, Park Bom signed with D-Nation and launched her solo album Spring. She collaborated with Sandara Park for the title track of the same name. Park Bom, also, featured Dara in the track First Snow.

CL also left YG Entertainment and released her In the Name of Love project album in December 2020.

Meanwhile, Dara spent three years exploring different projects. She starred in her first Korean film One Step in 2017 and followed it up with a supporting role for the film version of Cheese in the Trap.

She also became one of the most in-demand MCs for lifestyle and variety shows in Korea with a string of appearances under her belt. She is, currently, one of the hosts of Video Star. Dara, also, pushed the envelope by appearing in musical theater, which also earned her a lot of praise from co-stars and audiences alike.
