Prince Charles stands next in the line of the Queen's succession. As the British Monarch's eldest son, he will soon replace his mother as the head of the Monarchy.

This will only happen when Queen Elizabeth II passes away or decides to abdicate. Royal experts noted, however, that abdication is highly "unlikely" considering her commitment to her post.

While the question of "when will it happen" stands apparent, there are several other concerns that royal fans and supporters have pondered. Many have wondered what will happen to his royal titles once he becomes the King of the United Kingdom. Some have speculated whether Prince William will receive all of his father's royal titles in the future.

Prince Charles is formally known as the Prince of Wales. He received the regal title from his mother in 1958, when he was 9-years-old. He officially became the Prince of Wales through his investiture, in 1969, according to Cheat Sheet.

The publication added that only the Heir Apparent could receive the said title. Prior to the incumbent Prince of Wales, King Edward VIII held the title before his ascension to the throne in 1936.

This, reportedly, led many royal followers and watchers to wonder whether Prince William will also become the Prince of Wales. As noted, he fits all of the requirements since he stands next to his father in the line of succession.

While this is all true, there are rumors in recent years claiming that Prince Charles might be the last "Prince of Wales." As it happens, this regal title is not automatically given to the Heir Apparent, according to the Daily Express.

The same publication explained that a royal next in line to the throne can only become the Prince of Wales if the reigning monarch gives the title officially. Accordingly, it is on Charles' discretion if he will give the regal title to his son.

Despite this, though, reports said that almost all British Monarchs since 1301 have chosen to give the honor to their eldest son. Hence, Prince Charles may also do the same thing.

This case, also, applies to Prince William and Prince George. When the Duke of Cambridge ascends to the British Throne, it will be his choice whether to give the Prince of Wales title to his eldest son.

Amid all the speculation, YouGov and ITV "commissioned" a poll about what should happen to the title when Prince Charles becomes King. Over 1,000 Welsh individuals, reportedly, participated, with 57 percent of them agree that he should give the title to Prince William. Meanwhile, 22 percent of the respondents "believe" that the title should be abolished.
