Meghan Markle was a Hollywood actress before joining the Royal Family. If there is a commoner who can seamlessly transition into the clan, many would expect someone that has the career background of the Duchess of Sussex.
However, it seemed like even Meghan Markle’s life in Tinseltown did not help her with the level of fame that she received after her romance with Prince Harry was made public. A royal commentator, then, said that the Duchess of Sussex was not ready for it at all.
"The press attention, the media hype, everything, she was completely surrounded, and I think the night before Meghan and Harry were forced to reveal their relationship, it just seems like she wasn’t prepared. "She was nervous to do it because she liked the bubble that they had of six months together but then her life was completely blown up overnight,” Roberta Fiorito said during the Royally Obsessed podcast with Rachel Bowie.
Two years after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot, they announced that they would be stepping down from being senior royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, then, officially withdrew from their roles at the end of March this year.
Many believed that the main reason why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry quit royal life is that the former actress was not prepared to be a part of the Royal Family. However, royal authors revealed that the Duchess of Sussex already knew about the craziness of royal life before their royal exit. In fact, it was Prince Harry himself who told her about what to expect.
Wanting to impress Meghan Markle during their date, Prince Harry talked about all the positive things, such as his charities and trips to Africa. The Duke of Sussex was a full gentleman by not making the date all about him. In fact, he didn’t even talk about his royal status.
However, Prince Harry wanted to stay real at the same time, so he did mention something about royal life. "The most he had admitted at that point was that his life was 'sometimes a little mad,’” an extract from the unofficial biography “Finding Freedom” read.
But despite Prince Harry’s subtle warning, it seemed like the attention that Meghan Markle got after being linked to him was too much for her to handle. And even though Hollywood is known for gossips and speculations, the Duchess of Sussex filed a lawsuit against the British publisher Associated Newspapers due to breach of privacy.
