Station 19 season 4 is coming on ABC but there's still a question as to when it will officially arrive. There are only a few details about the new installment since filming hasn't yet kicked off. However, once it premieres, we're going to see more or of Stefania Spampinato's Dr. Carina DeLuca.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Spampinato has been promoted as a series regular in the upcoming Station 19 season 4. The actress plays the character of Dr. Carina DeLuca, the sister of Andrew DeLuca, and the potential love interest of Maya.
Carina has appeared across several episodes in the past season. The most notable one was during the season 3 finale, in which she forgave Maya Bishop and they decided to move forward together. It's clear that the character still has a lot of stories to tell.
Stefania, also, appeared as a recurring guest star on Grey's Anatomy for several years. However, the flagship show didn't give her an opportunity to tell a story that is fully her own. Now that she's been promoted as a series regular in Station 19 season 4, we could learn more about her character and her life.
It's interesting to see how Carina factors in the lives of the firefighters, especially since she doesn't work at the station. She could bring new stories in the lives of other characters, especially with Maya. Their relationship might further evolve, but it could also be tested along the way.
Spampinato started recurring in Grey's Anatomy as Carina back in season 14 and began recurring in the spin-off last year. After her frequent appearances, she started dating Maya and this is something that will further explored in Station 19 season 4.
Meanwhile, Richard Flood and Anthony Hill were, also, promoted as series regular in the upcoming Grey's Anatomy season 17. In a statement, showrunner Krista Vernoff has something to say about the promotion of these three on the spin-off and the main series.
Vernoff said she is excited to add Spampinato, Hill, and Flood to the Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy families. She added that they are huge talents who made big impacts with the fans, the cast members, and writers who are eager to write more about them.
As for the official release date of Station 19 season 4, nothing is confirmed at the moment. The series is included in the 2020-2021 schedule of ABC. However, there is no indication that it will premiere in the fall. Because of the delays, fans could expect its arrival at a later date.
