The stage is all set for the debut of the YG's new boy group called TREASURE. YG Entertainment announced that the 12-member idol group will officially debut on August 7 and have their debut stage on Inkigayo two days after.

According to a report by All Kpop, the much-anticipated debut of TREASURE will finally happen after two years of waiting. They will be performing their debut track BOY on SBS Inkigayo on August 9.

YG announced that TREASURE's performance for Show! Music Core on August 8 was canceled but stopped short of revealing details about the reason for the cancellation.

On the lead up to TREASURE's debut, YG already released teaser images of all 12 members as well as a motion video for their title track BOY.

Fans have long been anticipating the debut of TREASURE after the members were selected from an idol survival variety show entitled YG Treasure Box, which ran from 2018 to 2019.

YG's boy group was initially going to be named TREASURE 13 and debut with 13 members. However, one of the members, Yoonbin, quit the group before debuting because of creative differences with YG Entertainment.

Along with Yoonbin's departure, YG also scrapped the idea of forming two subunits under TREASURE, which was Treasure and Magnum. This, now, means that the remaining members Yedam, Haruto, Doyoung, Hyunsuk, Jihyun, Junghwan, Jungwoo, Yoshinori, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk, and Asahi will be promoted as a single unit.

Fans are also intrigued by the unique concept of TREASURE which will have two leaders -- Choi Hyunsuk and Park Jihoon.

TREASURE's debut album, which will come out on August 8, is aptly titled The First Step: Chapter One, will carry only two tracks. The first track is BOY, with lyrics from Se.A, Choice 37, Choi Hyun Suk, and Haruto. The song is composed by Choice37, HAE, Se.A and R.Tee, who also arranged the track.

The second track is Come to Me, a song written and arranged by Rovin with some help from Kim Kyung, BIGTONE, Choi Hyun Suk, Yoshi, and Haruto.

TREASURE's debut is expected to add to YG's recent momentum from BLACKPINK's powerhouse comeback series which started with How You Like That. It can be recalled that following BLACKPINK's comeback, YG's stocks skyrocketed by 93 percent from its prices in the first quarter of the year. BLACKPINK's second pre-release comeback is expected to drop this month and is rumored to feature American pop star Selena Gomez, Korea Herald reported.
