After a series of leaks and rumors, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced the next PS5 State of Play date. Following the first digital event where the Japanese gaming giant officially unveiled the PlayStation 5, fans were already speculating on the next Sony event. Sony also shared some details on what fans could look forward to in the upcoming event.

Next PS5 State Of Play

Sony Interactive Entertainment Senior Director and Content Communications Sid Shuman officially announced the next PS5 State of Play date in a blog post published earlier today. The new episode would air on August 6 at 1 PM Pacific Time or 4 PM Eastern Time. It would be available on the official YouTube and twitch channel of the Japanese gaming console maker.

Seemingly intending to shoot down rumors and speculations on the possible announcement of the release date and price of the PS5, the executive revealed some details of the upcoming PS5 State of Play. The episode will center on third-party published titles arriving on the PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4, the executive noted.

There are also several PS5 game updates on indie and third-party titles that was announced in PS5's June event, Shuman said. The upcoming PS5 State of Play would run for roughly 40 minutes to feature a lot of gameplay footage and several game updates, he shared. He also offered clarification on what's going to happen at the forthcoming event.

Shuman said there would be no PlayStation Studios updates happening on August 6. Updates on the PS5 price, pre-order, hardware, or business would not be available on the PS5 State of Play on Thursday, the executive added. At the event, the team's focus is purely on showing cool upcoming titles releasing to the wider PlayStation ecosystem, he said.

Other Details

The latest announcement on the next PS5 State of Play is more detailed, probably because Sony would not want the same things that happened in the past. At a recent DualSense event, a Sony executive shared with Geoff Keighley that he received a message from a friend informing him that some fans are lining up waiting for the PS5 pre-order to open.

The executive said that the reports about Sony finally receiving pre-orders for the PS5 are not official. He added that when Sony would finally open pre-orders for PS5, it would give fans ample time. So far, the Japanese gaming giant has not yet revealed the price of its upcoming next-generation gaming console. It also sticks with the earlier announced release window, that is, Holiday 2020.
