Stargirl season 2 is officially happening on both DC Universe and The CW, so there is no need to worry about the future of the series. But despite the renewal, there's a question as to when production could begin and when the new installment will premiere.
The series has yet to air its season 1 finale, and cast and crew will be taking a break before going back to work to film Stargirl season 2. But then, the hiatus might be longer this time around, considering the current global health crisis.
CarterMatt noted that The CW isn't following its fall schedule until early 2021, which means some of the shows might extend into late spring or early summer. Hence, there is a huge chance Stargirl season 2 won't premiere until later in the summer.
In addition, series star Brec Bassinger thinks that filming may not start until next year. In a recent interview with Collider, the actress revealed they're going to read scripts and start shooting sometime in 2021. Her statement hinted that he wait for Stargirl season 2 is might be longer than expected.
Bassinger also said she's looking forward to working with her fellow cast members again. She noted that she's thinking about getting the JSA back together, and getting to work with co-stars Yvette Monreal, Anj Washington, and Cameron Gellman again.
Also, the actress shared her reaction when she finds out the series is coming back for a second installment. Bassinger said showrunner Geoff Johns was 99 percent sure they'll get another season. So, when he called her about the renewal decision, she revealed it gave her so much of a sense of peace.
Even though the official release date of Stargirl season 2 is in question at the moment, we could expect more interesting stories. The first season delivered a lot of unexpected twists and turns, and the finale could leave a massive cliffhanger leading to more stories in the future.
The season 1 finale sees the ultimate showdown between the JSA and the ISA is coming. Courtney and her friends are still inexperienced when it comes to being superheroes, but they're also doing their best to fight for what is right and defeat the villains.
Based on the synopsis, the ISA is close to accomplishing their plans, but Courtney and the JSA won't back down. However, Pat a.k.a. STRIPE is the biggest concern here since Brainwave's brainwashing scheme impacted him differently. The superheroes must do whatever they can to save him before it's too late.
