Robert Pattison had an epic fail when he auditioned for Matt Reeves' The Batman movie while filming Christopher Nolan's Tenet. The actor has proven two things: 1) he's a bad liar; and 2) nothing could be hidden from Nolan especially when it's about Batman.

In an interview with The Irish Times, the Twilight actor admitted the sneaky action he took before he landed the role of Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman movie. He said the call for the screen test for The Batman came while he was filming Nolan's movie, Tenet

Pattinson said he lied to the filmmaker so he could go to the screen test. It looked like R-Patz's plan was to sneak from the set to audition for his first comic superhero role.

The actor said he told Nolan that he had a family emergency. However, as soon as he said "it's a family emergency," Nolan immediately knew what the actor was up to. He asked Pattinson if he is going to the Batman audition.

It turned out The Lost City of Z actor couldn't hide anything from Nolan, especially when it's about the DC superhero. The film director-producer has been known for many of his award-winning movies including The Dark Knight. Nolan directed and penned the script for The Dark Knight trilogy: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.

Robert Pattinson, ultimately, landed the Cape Crusader role. Reports have it that, among his top competitions for the iconic character were Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer, and X-Men: First Class actor Nicholas Hoult.

The production of The Batman started earlier this year in the United Kingdom. However, it was halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie from the DC Films and Warner Bros. Pictures was among the several films that have already given the green light to resume production in September.

Aside from Pattinson, the movie will also star Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. The Batman is set to be released in theaters on October 1, 2021.

The Batman will, also, take part in the upcoming DC's FanDome event scheduled on August 22. Both Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves are expected to participate in the upcoming virtual event.

Meanwhile, Tenet's premiere date has been postponed three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was, finally, scheduled for release on August 26.
