Selena Gomez and David Henrie excite Wizards of Waverly Place fans about their recent reunion. Does this mean the Russo family will reunite in the small screen?

Henrie shared a quick clip with Gomez on both Instagram and TikTok. He was standing up against a bush, saying "hmmm," while the 28-year-old singer was on the other side and said the same thing.

The two seemed to tease a new project and fans quickly assumed it would be the comedy series, Wizards of Waverly Place. However, the TikTok superstars Dixie D'Amelio and Charli D'Amelio did the same thing, hinting at something special they might be brewing up.

In another post, Gomez finally confirmed what they were cooking. The two reunited for the movie This is the Year after she shared its event trailer on her YouTube channel.

The singer-actress and Henrie would be having a live virtual premiere, which would be hosted by Dixie and Charli, on Aug. 28. Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend, also, shared a clip to promote their upcoming film.

In Henrie's post, he described the movie as a "feel-good film" that Gomez executive produced, and he directed. He, also, revealed that the one-time virtual premiere would benefit Plus1's COVID-19 relief.

There would be a live Q&A with the two, along with the movie's cast, Lorenzo Henrie, Vanessa Marano, Jake Short, Gregg Sulkin, Alyssa Jirrels, and Jeff Garlin. There would also be a live performance from Lovely the Band.

 

As fans will remember, Gomez and Henrie played as siblings on the Disney+ series for five years. According to HollywoodLife, the show's followers were quite devastated when its other cast reunited without Gomez.

In March, Henrie, Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise, and Jennifer Stone had a little reunion sans Taylor Swift's best friend. So, will there be a chance for a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot eight years after it ended?

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Now in September, Henrie revealed that he and Gomez had talked about the idea of rebooting the show. In fact, they often sat and spoke about it.

Although they had yet to formally talk about it, they would discuss what a reboot would be. He, also, stated that they already had a whole take and thing for it. Henrie was also eager to work with Gomez again.

Meanwhile, Gomez, recently, returned on the limelight after her social media hiatus. She made a video to greet her millions of followers, professing her love for them and teasing a lot of "exciting things coming up."
