Meghan Markle will cast her vote in the U.S. elections this November. The Duchess of Sussex said she will exercise her right to "make all voices heard" by performing her civic duty as a U.S. citizen.

The wife of Prince Harry was one of 100 influential women, including Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton, who were asked about why they are voting in the August issue of Marie Claire. Meghan Markle said that voting is a fundamental right and that she would do it for the men and women who "put their lives on the line" for those without voices.

She also said that she understands what it feels like to have no voice, although she didn't expound on what this means. Instead, the Duchess of Sussex quoted suffragist Kate Sheppard in her entry for Marie Claire. Sheppard said that it's wrong to think a single vote will not matter because the rain needs "single drops" to "refresh the parched ground."

Meghan's decision to vote will reportedly mark history in the royal family. According to People, the royals generally don't vote in elections since they have to be politically neutral. However, there is no law that prevents them from voting.

The Duchess of Sussex has yet to make public her support for a candidate. However, she is a known Democrat and criticized Donald Trump as "misogynistic" and "divisive" during the 2016 presidential campaign on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

After announcing her exit from the royal family with Prince Harry in January, a source told Daily Mail that Meghan wants to be politically involved in the U.S. She had to give this up when she got engaged to the Duke of Sussex but she always had strong political opinions that she would like to publicly express.  Friends describe the royal as a "political animal."

Another source also claimed that Meghan has ambitions to run as president of the United States. She apparently told journalist Piers Morgan three years before meeting her husband that she didn't always want to be an actress.

Meghan said that she wanted to a president or to work in the news, just like Morgan, when she was a little girl. Speculation is that she could eventually lead the Democrats and someday be pitted against presidential daughter Ivanka Trump.

Meghan reportedly applied for British citizenship when she married Prince Harry. However, she still carries an American passport so she can vote in the November elections.
