Gwen Stefani's eldest son, Kingston Rossdale, recently made headlines after he revealed he hated "country music." Knowing that her mother's partner is a country music superstar, how did Blake Shelton react about it?

Kingston, one of Stefani's three kids with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, joined an Instagram Live session and revealed his distaste of country music. He called the genre "disgusting" when Johnny Cash's music played, but Shelton seemed unaffected.

A source told HollywoodLife the 44-year-old country music singer only thought that the kid's hate on the said genre was funny. The 14-year-old celebrity child is a great guy, so his future stepfather wanted him to be his own person and eventually his own man someday.

The insider continued that Shelton loved Kingston and he was, also, proud of him and the relationship he had with his real dad, Gavin Rossdale. Despite his disgust to country music, Kingston and Shelton got along.

Evidently, Kingston is growing up in a "musical household." His mom is a famed singer-songwriter, who used to be the frontwoman of the famous '90s band No Doubt. Alternatively, his father, Gavin, is a renowned rocker and lead singer of Bush.

With the family's mutual trust and respect, they did not mind if they did not have the same taste in music. The tipster added that at 14, Kingston was still considered a kid. He had his own thing, and he would surely never get mad if Shelton did not like the games he was playing.

Recently, Us Weekly reported Stefani's three sons were big fans of Shelton, although not of his music. Another source revealed they all looked up to him in a huge way.

Shelton managed to earn their respect as a father figure. From being a friend, he turned out to be a "serious parental influence" to them.

Stefani herself called Shelton a "good dad" in her appearance on Today in September 2019. The "Hollaback Girl" singer revealed he had been helping her out a lot to look after Kingston, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, six. She even recalled when she got to the point that she asked him to come home and needed his help, admitting it was hard to have three boys.

Stefani and Shelton started dating in 2015 after they met on the set of The Voice. At the time, she and Gavin had been apart for three months. He was also recently divorced from Miranda Lambert then.
