Meghan Markle's popularity hasn't waned since leaving the royal family. Reports say that the Duchess of Sussex is highly in demand among Hollywood bigwigs, who may be willing to pay her $50 million to star in a movie.

Director Paul Feig, who did the 2016 Ghostbuster female-centric film and a bunch of TV shows, said that movie chiefs are eager to work with the Duchess of Sussex now that she's setting her roots in California. Feig said that he's personally interested in doing a film with Meghan because he's a fan of her work.

Avengers director Joe Russo said that filmmakers will have "incredible opportunities" if they work with Meghan. Her presence will help raise awareness if the film outfit wants to support causes and issues.

InterTalent chairman Jonathan Shalit told Daily Mirror that producers are seeing the global pull of the Duchess of Sussex. People are fascinated with the former Suits TV star that, if she signs up for a movie, Shalit believes she could command a talent fee of $50 million.

Meghan had not done any critically-acclaimed or serious movie projects before she quit show business to marry Prince Harry in 2018. However, Shalit believes that it's not Meghan's acting credentials that make her in demand but her box office appeal.

The Duchess of Sussex has yet to express any plans to return to Hollywood. However, she and Prince Harry reportedly applied for a trademark for their foundation, Archewell, under "television shows" and "motion picture films." An insider said that the Sussex couple plans to venture in "digital entertainment content" as well, which means that they have intentions to work in Hollywood and it might not necessarily be in front of the camera.

Royal author Omid Scobie said that Meghan's interest in returning to Hollywood is more about doing behind the scenes work rather than in front of the camera. She and Prince Harry reportedly plan to produce documentaries and movies, similar to the Obama couple's Higher Ground production outfit, which has partnered with Netflix.

According to The Sun, Meghan has boarded the project Election Year as a producer. It's a film based on a book by the author Lloyd Scott, and its story centers on a senator's staff who learns that her popular boss is a Russian operative.

The screenplay to Election Year shows a lot of promise and its message apparently appealed to Meghan Markle because it's about democracy and standing up for what someone believes. No word yet on who will direct and star in the film.
