A woman who helped raise money for a charity supported by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is apparently an internet troll. Dani Trin has a second Twitter account from where she attacks the royals.
Trin recently received a call from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who thanked her for raising more than $55,0000 for charity. Prince Harry and Markle told Trin that they were "so moved and so happy" with her efforts.
The money raised is for the education charity Camfed which provides scholarships to young women students in Africa. The #InspiredByMeghan campaign marks the duchess' 39th birthday in August.
Trin told Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie people were excited to raise the money on behalf of Markle. She was also part of another fundraising campaign called Archie Day - named for the duke and duchess' son. This campaign raised $50,000.
But according to The Sun Trin is connected with a troll account that has posted antiroyal content including against Prince William, Kate Middleton and others.
One of the posts called the royals "nasty, pedophilic and racist." Another post referred to Kate as an "anorexic wrinkly hoe" and Prince William as an "a****le."
Trin deactivated her Twitter account ahead of the article. However, she confirmed to The Sun that the account @henryscousin is managed by eight members of the Sussex Squad fan group. She denied personally writing messages and said the group "disbanded" because of "irreconcilable differences."
The Sussex fan was likely caught when she used the troll account to tell Twitter followers she had received a call from Harry and Markle. Harry published an article in Fast Company condemning social media's "crisis of hate." The duke called on businesses and their leaders to reform the digital landscape and online platforms.
The Sun said Harry and Markle weren't aware of Trin's troll account. In the book Finding Freedom, however, Harry apparently told a friend he appreciated the positive support from the Sussex Squad. Royal expert Tom Quinn said this, once again, proved Harry and Markel to be naive.
