Cole Sprouse broke his silence about his split from Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. He confirmed the breakup and revealed that, contrary to what their fans know, they were no longer together since March.
In his latest Instagram post, Sprouse shared a photo of Reinhart in the woods as he revealed that he and the actress first separated early this year before they agreed to permanently part ways in March. The Riverdale actor clarified that it wasn't a messy breakup and he had an "incredible experience" with Reinhart.
Cole said he feels lucky to have experienced falling in love and wished his ex-girlfriend nothing but love and happiness as they move forward. He, also, promoted Lili's upcoming movie Chemical Hearts which is due for release on August 21.
Sprouse's statement on Instagram came after Reinhart's interview with Refinery29 was released on Tuesday. In the said interview, the 23-year-old seemed to talk about her split from Cole and her pains in ending a relationship.
The Hustlers actress confessed that the past couple of months were the most emotional times of her life. Lili said her therapist told her that her body is going through withdrawal from love because she used to exchange happy chemicals with someone but that is not her situation right now.
However, Reinhart clarified, on Twitter, that she wasn't talking about her split from Sprouse in her Refinery interview. Lili said breakups are a very private matter and she will never talk about it publicly.
She clarified that, in her recent interview, she was referring to her struggles with depression over the past few months because of the coronavirus pandemic. Lili said, in the interview, that this is her first time, in the past four years, to stop and process the life changes that she had been through.
Cole Sprouse, 28, and Lili Reinhart, 23, are known for playing love interests Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones on Riverdale in the CW. They were first rumored dating in 2017. The then-couple was very private about their relationship.
Back in April, Sprouse was slammed by fans after he was rumored dating Kaia Gerber while still in a relationship with Lili Reinhart. The Suite Life of Zack & Cody actor denied the rumor and hit back on his haters.
In his Instagram post at the time, Cole Sprouse revealed that he received death threats. He added that it wasn't only him who was attacked by people who claimed to be his fans, but also his friends. It turned out that, even if the rumors about him and Gerber were true back then, there's nothing wrong about it since he was no longer with Reinhart since March.
