Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart called it quits amidst speculations that the on-and-off screen couple is having trouble in their romance. In the past few months, Sprouse has been romantically linked to model Kaia Gerber.

Page Six cited a source as saying Cole, 27, and Lili, 23, split even before the coronavirus pandemic has started and they have been in quarantine separately. However despite the breakup, the couple remains as good pals

The breakup news came after Riverdale actor Skeet Ulrich and his girlfriend were asked about Cole and Lili in their recent Instagram Live. A fan asked the actor, who played Jughead's father F. P. Jones in Riverdale, about his two young co-stars.

Both Skeet and his girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin replied that Sprouse and Reinhart were a cute couple. Fans immediately noticed that the two used the word "were."

For the past few months, Sprouse has been rumored cheating on Reinhart with model Kaia Gerber. It started after Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber's daughter posted a photo of her on Instagram and fans noticed that it was taken at Cole's house.

The Disney alum addressed the rumor and denied that he is dating 18-year-old Kaia. He also slammed those who are sending him and family death threats because of the rumor.

Sprouse and Reinhart started dating in 2017, the same year their The CW TV series premiered. Over the years, they have been hit by breakup rumors, which they have strongly denied.

Cole and Lili play Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper on Riverdale, respectively. They were known as "Bughead" to their fans.

In her recent interview with W Magazine, Reinhart did not give a hint that she and Sprouse were having problems in their relationship. The Hustlers actress, however, said Cole wants their relationship to be as private as possible.

She was asked, however, how a future break up would affect their relationship on set, considering they are also a couple in Riverdale. Reinhart said she doesn't know what the future holds for Betty and Jughead but she acknowledged that dealing with things like this is an upside of having a real-life relationship with a co-star.

Riverdale fans would see in the upcoming Season 5 how Cole and Lili's breakup would affect their chemistry as Jughead and Betty. Riverdale Season 4 just wrapped up earlier this month with only 19 episodes. The three more episodes intended for the fourth season will be aired at the beginning of the next installment.
