Stardom did not come easy for Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart. She recalled all the auditions she wenty through and how the Betty Cooper role almost slipped in her fingers.

In a W Magazine interview with the 23-year-old actress, Reinhart said she moved to Los Angeles from Ohio to pursue her dream to be an actress. At the time, Lili shared an apartment with several others while hopping from one audition to another.

She remembered the time that she spent $500 Ubering to auditions. Reinhart also dealt with anxiety while trying to land roles and admitted that it was a "miserable" period of her life.

Lili confessed that she was broke financially and mentally when she landed the role for The CW TV series. She added that when she auditioned for Riverdale, it was the time that she was in the process of rebuilding her life. She made her first audition tape for the show when she was in her worst state.

Reinhart got rejected multiple times for a role in the TV adaptation of Archie comics but it didn't stop her from auditioning again. The actress revealed that her co-stars also have the same experience as her. Cole Sprouse was the only one who made it in on his first audition. Sprouse plays the role of Betty's love interest, Jughead.

Reinhart said she eventually auditioned in person and this led her to finally getting the Betty Cooper role. Reinhart remembered the moment when she got a call from her manager telling her the good news.

"I got the call from the manager, and she said, 'You got it. You're Betty Cooper.' It felt so unreal. My friend was standing across from me, and when I put the phone down, he said, 'I literally just watched your life change,'" Lili recalled.

The actress credited her mom for helping her deal with her mental health and coping with the pressure of her new working environment. Lili said her parents have always been supportive of her dream.

Now, Reinhart has more projects than she can handle. She recently appeared in the critically-acclaimed 2019 movie Hustlers. She also made a cameo appearance in Elizabeth Banks's Charlie's Angels last year.

She is also set to lead star in Richard Tanne's upcoming film Chemical Hearts. It is also Reinhart's first credit as an executive producer.

Meanwhile, Lili and the rest of the cast of Riverdale are on the fourth season of the teen drama series. In the upcoming episode, things will turn really bad for Betty as it looks like she is responsible for Jughead's death.
