A new report revealed the technical specs of the heavily rumored Xbox Series S. The said console is reportedly the more affordable but less powerful version of the Xbox Series X. Interestingly, most of the specs revealed in the report seemingly aligned with earlier leaks and rumors about the Xbox Series S or Lockhart.

A recent report from Tweak Town seemingly aligned with earlier leaks that the Xbox Series S is a little bit less powerful compared to its sibling, the Xbox Series S. The new leaked specs confirmed that the gaming console would not have a disc drive, which means it is an all-digital system. The report clarified that these technical specs are not official and are based on data collected over time.

It is worth mentioning that the alleged leaked specs of the Xbox Series S are relatively similar in various capacities with the Xbox Series X. This includes the processing speeds and the backward compatibility. Interestingly, several key differences make the console a lesser offering (in terms of technology), which is expected to be pushed by a lower MSRP.

In terms of GPU power, the Xbox Series X features 12.5 TFLOPs while the Lockhart only sports 4 TFLOPs. In terms of performance target, the premium gaming console offers 4K 60 FPS and 8K gaming. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S only provides 1440p 60 FPS.

The Xbox Series S would house the AMD Big Navi with RDNA 2 Radeon graphics hardware that is anticipated to power most gaming PCs this year. The Lockhart also features a slight reduction in terms of RAM memory, which is 10 GB of GDDR6 RAM while the Xbox Series X features a 16 GB GDDR6 RAM.

There is a 60% difference in graphical power between the two upcoming next-gen consoles. Microsoft has not yet confirmed the existence of Xbox Series S despite the array of leaks and rumors lately. Rumors have it that Microsoft is planning to undercut Sony's next-gen gaming console by offering a much cheaper Xbox Series X.

Many fans believed that if this is the case, Microsoft will source its loss on the Game Pass subscription. The leaked Xbox Series S' specs seemingly confirmed that Xbox is leaning more towards its digital service. Most probably, players who use the Xbox Game Pass service would prefer the Xbox Series S.

It is important to consider that these leaked specs of Xbox Series S are not official. In this case, it is smarter to take this information with a pinch of salt. Xbox Series S is confirmed to arrive sometime in November 2020.
