Unlike most members of the British Royal Family, Meghan Markle had control over her and Prince Harry's official social media account. Finding Freedom claims that she wrote many of the captions on the Sussex Royal platform, deeming it a "liberating experience."

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that one of the Sussex couple's "core frustrations" was their inability to speak up for themselves, according to Town and Country. Sources added that it was one of the "toughest" challenges that the Duchess had to face.

But launching the Sussex Royal account reportedly meant that she found a platform to "curate." She was "happy to help" in creating the voice and tone of their official feed.

Before launching the Instagram account, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared a social media account with Prince William and Kate Middleton. They also joined the Cambridge couple in various royal works for The Royal Foundation.

In April 2019, however, the Sussex and Cambridge households diverged, according to the Daily Express. After moving out of Kensington Palace and launching their own foundation, Harry and Meghan started the Sussex Royal.

Finding Freedom claims that the Duchess of Sussex "drafted" a lot of posts in the early days. This reportedly helped her take control and kept her "occupied" in the final weeks of her pregnancy.

Reports said that it is not surprising why Meghan Markle wanted to control that aspect of their royal lives. Several publications noted that she was an "avid user" of many social media platforms even before her time as a working royal.

During her Hollywood years, Meghan was actively using her personal Instagram account. She also had her own blog, The Tig.

But she had to deactivate these accounts before marrying Prince Harry. Months before their wedding in 2018, she deleted them after years of investing time, effort and resources.

These days, though, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's official Instagram account is no longer active. Following their exit from the British Monarchy, they had to relinquish their titles and the use of the word "royal."

Some reports said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to launch a new Instagram account, where they can freely post, given that they are no longer working royals. Others have alleged that the former Suits actress will likely create a new blog to replace her now-defunct The Tig blog. While speculation has continued to emerge, the Sussex couple has remained tight-lipped about the matter.
