Jin is the oldest member of BTS, but he has proven numerous times that age is just a number. Despite being the eldest hyung of RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, the “Moon” singer had been mistaken as the group’s maknae, thanks to his bright personality and youthful looks.
In fact, ARMYs dubbed Jin as BTS’s “Fake Maknae.” They also call him “Matnae,” which is a mix of the words “oldest” and “youngest” in Korean.
But fans are not the only ones who noticed Jin’s maknae-worthy visuals. On August 21, BTS took to Vlive to celebrate with fans for the release of their latest song, “Dynamite.”
Just like their other videos, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook watched their “Dynamite” music video for the first time together. In a very BTS fashion, the boys kept hyping each other up and praised everyone’s performance.
At one point, J-hope pointed out Jin’s young-looking visual. “You look really young here. Very youthful,” the BTS rapper told Jin. The 27-year-old singer and songwriter, then, told him the reason for his youthful glow. “That’s because I have a young mindset,” he said, which J-Hope fully agreed to. “Yeah hyung, you look like our maknae!” (Watch the clip here).
The official maknae of BTS is Jungkook, who is five years younger than Jin. But, with Jungkook’s built, he can easily be mistaken as one of the older boys. As for Mr. Worldwide Handsome, despite his fit physique, his playful ways doesn’t give him the oldest member vibe.
It is worth noting that Jin is the baby in the Kim household. The BTS star only has one sibling, who is older than him. This may be a reason why Jin still has that maknae vibe despite being the oldest member of BTS.
Meanwhile, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have shown many times how much they adore Jin. J-Hope even, previously, shared that he can’t live without him.
One fan asked J-Hope, “What do you think about a hyung like this?” on Weverse while posting a GIF of Jin from their Samsung “Galaxy X BTS: Captured #withGalaxy S20 Series” video. J-Hope replied: “I love a hyung like this. This hyung is my favorite in the whole wide world. In fact, I will look at this whenever I feel down. I don’t think I can live without a hyung like this."
