There is little doubt that the trailer for The Batman was one of the most highly anticipated surprises at DC FanDome last weekend. After all, people have been hoping to see Robert Pattinson in action while wearing the full Batman suit.

Luckily, the first teaser was unveiled during the film's panel at the virtual convention. But while most fans were thrilled to see the Caped Crusader and the other DC comic book villains for the first time, some also realized that there was an unexpected reference to one of Pattinson's most memorable moments as Edward Cullen in Twilight.

People who tuned in to DC FanDome for The Batman panel were probably hoping to get some new details about the film from director Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson. However, the filmmaker and the star also had a cool surprise for fans as they confirmed that there was enough footage to make a teaser. The first trailer was then dropped at the panel and it's everything that people have been hoping for.

The trailer immediately offered a glimpse at The Riddler as he takes down one victim and leaves a note for "The Batman" that is found by the police. This isn't the only time that the DC supervillain mocks the Caped Crusader. At one point, he sends a car crashing into a funeral attended by Bruce Wayne, who realizes that a man is standing in the way of the vehicle. Bruce tackles the man to get him out of harm's way as the car crashes into the building and it's a scene that's a little too familiar for Twilight fans.

Several netizens were quick to point out that the way Bruce Wayne saved the man's life was very similar to one of the most memorable scenes in Twilight where Edward Cullen saves Bella Swan from an oncoming car. Needless to say, people believe that it's still hard for Robert Pattinson to truly abandon the role that made him a household name.

The Batman trailer also offered a glimpse at Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and she even fights the Caped Crusader in one scene. Interestingly, some fans believe that the teaser also revealed Colin Farrell as Penguin, but the actor was unrecognizable due to heavy prosthetics. The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, and Andy Serkis. The movie is scheduled for release on October 1, 2021.
