There is little doubt that people are disappointed that Disney decided to pull Mulan from a theatrical release and will be making the highly anticipated film available on their streaming service instead. After all, fans still believe that the live-action remake of the 1998 animated flick would be better if you see it in the cinemas.

However, it looks like there is at least one country that will be able to enjoy the Liu Yifei movie in theaters. A new poster confirms that the House of Mouse will still push through with Mulan's theatrical release in China.

It's no secret that Disney has been planning to win big with Mulan in China. The live-action reboot was already being marketed heavily in the country even before the coronavirus outbreak in early 2020 in an effort to get Chinese audiences to see the film.

Unfortunately, the plan didn't work too well as theaters were closed down due to COVID-19, forcing the House of Mouse to push the premiere to a later date. The lengthy delay has even led to the studio deciding to skip the movie's theatrical release, choosing to make the film available on Disney+ for a one-time fee of $29.99.

But, will some fans still have the chance to see Mulan on the big screen? A new poster promoting the film's theatrical release in China has been spotted and was immediately shared on Twitter. The poster features lead star Liu Yifei along with a slogan confirming that the movie is set to hit Chinese cinemas. However, the premiere date has yet to be announced. You can see the poster here.

The planned theatrical release of Mulan in China isn't exactly a huge surprise considering that this was Disney's plan from the start. It may have also been decided since there are not many Chinese subscribers on Disney+ just yet.

In addition to that, it is a fact that several theaters have already opened in the country and have previously screened movies released earlier in 2020 although ticket sales have not been as good as expected. With that in mind, releasing Mulan in theaters might be the best option for Disney as well as the Chinese box office.

Mulan is directed by Niki Caro and will star Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li. The movie will be available for video-on-demand on Disney+ starting September 4. The film's release date in China has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
