Kai Havertz is poised for a record signing with Chelsea as reports said the German sensation is nearing a deal that will see Bayer Leverkusen £90 million richer when the transfer deal gets completed. The terms of the agreement have been finalized and the Blues have reportedly agreed to pay the transfer fee in full, at least in principle.

Havertz signing with Chelsea will be without a discount as previously being worked on by the Premier League side. The deal will go ahead as the buyer signed on to the demands made by Leverkusen. While the original asking price will be covered fully, the payment will come in installment.

An initial fee of £72 million will be released to the German side for the release of Havertz and the balance will be transmitted in batches. According to Goal, the Blues had hoped to reduce the cost of acquiring the 21-year-old by at least £18 million but decided to bite the bullet anyway.

It is expected that both parties will wrap up the deal soon and they are already in advance talks. Should that be the case, Havertz will have the bragging rights of being the priciest German signing of all time.

To wit, the price to be paid for Havertz to wear the Chelsea shirt is nearly equal to the money spent for Frank Lampard to secure the signatures of both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in recent months. In bringing in the two players, Lampard's side had to sign a check amounting to £91 million.

The acquisitions though are perceived as wise on Chelsea's part. The side is building up on the frontline and adding the three talents to the roster is seen to bolster the goal of winning titles again in the seasons to come.

Havertz will come in as a playmaker while Ziyech is expected to contribute his creativity on the pitch. Werner's key role is to duplicate or better yet exceed the impressive feat he registered in the last term - the 24-year-old cleared the net more than 30 times.

The latest signings, according to The Guardian, should compensate for the loss of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last summer. Lampard appeared optimistic that his summer haul will greatly increase the scoring capabilities of his side, potentially giving him a shot at winning both the Premier League and the Champions League next season.

The Blues boss though is well aware that he needs to plug the holes on Chelsea's porous defense, which he is hoping to solve by signing Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain. The 35-year-old is assured of one year in Stamford Bridge with the option to extend for 12 months.

Lined up to join the club as well are Declan Rice and Ben Chilwell, coming in from  West Ham and Leicester City respectively, and both tasked to strengthen Chelsea's wall of defense.
