Katie Holmes and James Marsden have sparked new dating rumors after the actor double-tap one of the actress' posts on Instagram. A tabloid claimed the two never lost touch of each other after they worked together in a movie in 1998.
According to New Idea, the chemistry between Holmes and Marsden still exists even though it has been over two decades since they appeared in a movie together. The two worked together in the 1998 movie Disturbing Behavior.
The tabloid claimed the Dawson's Creek actress and Marsden have been "secretly flirting" lately. It based its assumption on the "like" that James gave to one of Katie's posts on Instagram.
It, also, cited some supposed friends of the two who claimed the X-Men actor and Holmes kept in touch with each other over the years. The sources alleged there was still a spark between the two even after filming their movie. However, the timing wasn't on their side.
Apparently, Katie was about to go public with her relationship with her Dawson's Creek co-star Joshua Jackson at the time. Marsden, on the other hand, was getting serious with Days of Our Lives actress Lisa Linde.
James Marsden married Linde in 2000. They divorced in 2011. Katie Holmes, on the other hand, dated Chris Klein from 2000 to 2005 before she started dating Tom Cruise in April 2005.
The insider added that, even though the Westworld actor is, currently, dating British musician Edei, Marsden "always held a torch for Katie." It added that, if rumors are true that things between the couple are cooling off, Marsden could be attempting to reconnect with Holmes now.
Holmes is not dating anyone at the moment. Her last romance was with Jamie Foxx. The two broke up last year.
While fans would want to see Holmes in a romantic relationship again, Gossip Cop said the rumor about her and Marsden is not true. The publication spoke to the actress' rep, who confirmed that the New Idea story was fabricated.
Additionally, James Marsden and Edei are still together and there is no indication that their relationship is in any kind of trouble. Gossip Cop added that Marsden liking Holmes' post on Instagram doesn't mean there is something going on between them.
Gossip Cop, also, noted that New Idea couldn't be trusted with stories about Katie Holmes. Last month, it claimed the Batman Begins actress was enrolling in medical school to pursue her childhood dream to become a doctor. In May, it alleged that Holmes was pregnant with Foxx's child. Both stories were debunked by Gossip Cop.
