Snowfall season 4 is happening on FX, but there's still uncertainty as to when it could officially premiere. Just like other TV shows, the series was forced to shut down production earlier this year due to the current global health crisis.
It seems like FX doesn't wasn't to release Snowfall season 4 until more episodes are shot and production is near to wrapping up. The good news is that cast and crew could begin working again soon. In a post via Twitter, executive producer Leonard Chang teased they're slowly gearing up to start filming again.
But, he, also, noted that it may take a little while for the new installment to premiere. A lot of things are needed to be considered first, especially working amid the pandemic. Everyone on the set must follow certain health guidelines and protocols.
There would be a few people on set to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. Also, some scenes might be reduced in order to follow the proper social distancing measures. While the pandemic is a timely topic, the Snowfall season 4 may not be able to incorporate such themes in the story.
The series is a period piece and it is challenging to deliver a story happening in the present timeline. It would be difficult to take out something in the present and incorporate it in the past. Although writers can't reference the current events, they could include themes to mirror what's going on now.
Despite the wait, the latest installment will deliver more interesting stories once it arrives. In fact, Damson Idris, who plays Franklin Saint, teased that more excellent stories are coming in the series. Since production is partially done, the actor is aware where the new season is heading.
As for the potential release date, Snowfall season 4 could premiere later this year -- if ever the filming won't encounter any setbacks. But, if there would be further delays, the new installment might be dropping at some point in 2021.
The first three seasons were all released in July and concluded in September. Yet, that won't be followed in the new installment. A lot of things happened because of the pandemic and the safety of everyone remains to be the top priority for now.
Meanwhile, most characters are coming back in Snowfall season 4. In addition to Idris, the series also stars Reign Edwards, Angela Lewis, Carter Hudson, Michael Hyatt, Kevin Carroll, Amin Joseph, Judith Scott, Isaiah John, Alon Aboutboul, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta.
