Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip finally saw Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in person after five months. The Cambridge children joined their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, for a quick visit to Balmoral Palace in Scotland before the start of school in London this fall.

According to The Sun, Prince William, Kate and the kids had a socially-distanced reunion with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The last time they saw each other was in March, before London -- and the rest of the world -- issued a lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Sources said that the Queen's great-grandchildren spent their time outside the Balmoral estate with Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh. Apart from the Cambridges, Prince Edward and Sophie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, as well as their two teenage kids, Lady Louis and James, Viscount Severn, were, also, present.

The previous week, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip also had Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, as visitors. It's not clear if Princess Eugenie's dad, Prince Andrew, also, went to the Highlands but Princess Beatrice couldn't come as she will have to be in quarantine after her France honeymoon with husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Sources said that the lockdown has been very hard for Queen Elizabeth, especially in the summer, where many of her family members visit. Fortunately, the Cambridges had the chance to travel last weekend and were apparently "over the moon" to see the monarch.

However, there have been concerns about Prince William and Kate's visit to the Queen because of two-year-old Prince Louis. According to Daily Express, the youngest Cambridge child still doesn't understand the concept of social distancing because he likes to cuddle and touch people.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have been under strict royal safety protocols because their age makes them vulnerable against the virus. As such, staff members at Balmoral have to get regularly tested for COVID-19 and quarantine before they come in. Guests, on the other hand, are not allowed to stay in the main house where the Queen stays.

Meanwhile, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are going to start their in-person classes this September at Thomas's Battersea in London. The Cambridges will move back to Kensington Palace after isolating at Anmer Hall in Norfolk since the middle of March.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, on the other hand, will remain in Balmoral until October. The monarch will not be back in London after her summer break. Instead, she will return in isolation at Windsor Castle.
