Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are, reportedly, trying to make amends with Queen Elizabeth after they took a swipe at the monarch for their comments about the Commonwealth.

A source told Daily Mail that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "trying to build bridges" as they praised Queen Elizabeth in their recent video conference with the Queen's Commonwealth Trust.

Last month, Prince Harry called out the institution to acknowledge its "uncomfortable" past, during a talk about racial equality.  Royal commentators said that Prince Harry's statement likely hurt his grandmother as the head of the Commonwealth. Veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards specifically said that the Duke of Sussex was disrespectful to Her Majesty and showed that he didn't understand the importance of the Commonwealth to Queen Elizabeth.

But, Prince Harry and Meghan backpedalled in their recent talk with the organization and raved about the Queen's legacy in the Commonwealth. Apparently, it "dawned" on Sussexes that they need Queen Elizabeth, who is protective of the Commonwealth, and the royal family despite their popularity in some sectors, the source said.

Meanwhile, there has, also, been much debate about Meghan's recent political statements as the U.S. elections heat up. The Duchess of Sussex joined Michelle Obama and several Democrats to encourage women to vote this November.

Some royal observers think that Meghan shouldn't be expressing her political views and still be introduced as the Duchess of Sussex in these types of panels. To many British, she is still representing the Queen when she's recognized by her title.

But, Queen Elizabeth and most of the royal family members are apolitical and they expect the same from Meghan. One of her critics, presenter Piers Morgan, posted on his Twitter account that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex must be stripped of the titles for breaching royal protocol and showing their political colors.

However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that Meghan has a unique case since she is American and grew up in political activism. The royal expert said that calls to strip her off the Duchess of Sussex title is "wide off the mark."

The royal expert doesn't think that Prince Harry will follow his wife's lead and start talking politics as well. He thinks that this is a strategical move from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as they position themselves in the U.S. market, and among their friends in Hollywood, as they launch Archewell soon.
