China BBK Electronics Corp.'s smartphone unit Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd and other brands in the stable OnePlus Technology Co. Ltd.,  Realme and Vivo Communication Technology Co. Ltd. have joined with America Movil to expand Oppo's business in Latin America. With the prolonged pandemic Oppo is joining with the largest telecommunications operator in the region to widen its international footprint and diversify its markets.

America Movil will offer Oppo's smartphone models through its Claro Americas and Telcel subsidiaries. This will expand Oppo's reach to Mexico and several Latin American markets - increasing its products' availability in more than 40 countries and regions.

The partnership will allow the company to officially enter the mainstream Latin America markets, Oppo's president of international sales Wu Qiang said in a statement. The collaboration is a huge milestone for the company and its worldwide market development, he said.

The deal should give Telcel customers more choices in terms of smartphone models available for their network plans and packages, its deputy director of marketing Marcos Linares said in a separate statement. Consumers should readily welcome Oppo's world-class, innovative products, he said.

Oppo has been aggressively forging new partnerships with large telecommunications and mobile network providers around the world. As of this moment the China company has signed deals with more than 80 network operators - including companies in India, North America and Europe.

In May, Oppo closed a comprehensive partnership deal with Europe telecommunications company Vodafone. Vodafone agreed to offer Oppo's portfolio of products across its retail channels in countries such as Germany, Spain, Romania, Turkey, Portugal, the UK and the Netherlands.

Given continued physical store restrictions as a result of the prolonged health crisis Oppo has been working with partners to expand and develop its online sales channels. Sales at its physical stores worldwide have largely been constrained by the outbreak but the company is confident of an immediate bounce back once the situation improves during the second half of the year.

Since the brand's establishment in 2004 Oppo has quickly become one of the world's largest smartphone companies. During the second quarter of this year the company ranked as the world's fifth largest smartphone seller. The company sold 278.4 million units worldwide in the period.
