Amber Heard and Johnny Depp will, again, meet in court but, this time, it will be in the United States. The 34-year-old model's lawyers, reportedly, expect the Pirates of the Caribbean star to serve papers that will require his estranged wife to give evidence about their marriage and domestic abuse allegations.
Heard and Depp, recently, faced each other in a high-profile court battle in London against The Sun newspaper, to which the 57-year-old actor, reportedly, lost. Since then, the Aquaman star flew in for a holiday in Turkey but, recently, returned home.
The former couple was, now, waiting for a verdict of Depp and The Sun's High Court battle, which was expected to come out this week. Now, the actress' legal team was preparing for a new legal battle in the American courts.
According to Daily Mail, Depp was already working out on a new case against Heard in the U.S. state of Virginia over the article she wrote for the Washington Post newspaper in December 2018. Although she never mentioned her former husband's name, she described herself as a woman who was becoming a "public figure representing domestic abuse."
Depp's lawyers argued that Heard's claim falsely portrayed him as a "wife-beater." The Justice League star alleged the actor domestically abused her throughout their relationship.
Depp, alternatively, vehemently denied the allegation and said his ex-wife was the one violent toward him. A source revealed that, no matter what the outcome would be of Depp's case against The Sun, he would just go on and go. It might even continue for "years to come."
Heard and Depp first met on the set of their 2011 movie together, The Rum Diary. They then tied the knot in Los Angeles in 2015.
In May 2016, Heard opted for a restraining order against the Edward Scissorhands actor, alleging abuse. In the same year, their divorce was finalized out of court, Mirror Online noted. They both signed non-disclosure agreements, which would bar them from talking about their relationship in public.
Heard is, now, home after spending a much-needed holiday in Turkey with her new partner, Bianca Butti. The set decorator had been on her side throughout the tumultuous three-week libel case hearing of the estranged pair in London last month.
Heard looked happy as she shared several photos of her getaway on Instagram. She was seen enjoying a boat ride while holding her glass of red wine and lounging on the craft's front. In the captioned, she said it was hard to say goodbye, expressing her love for foreign country.
