It has been a long time since there were any updates on Fantastic Beasts 3. Although the sequel to the five-part Harry Potter spin-off film series was supposed to begin production earlier this year, filming was put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, it looks like things are finally moving forward for the Johnny Depp movie. Eddie Redmayne has just confirmed that the cast and crew have resumed production and even stated that the delay was helpful to the highly anticipated flick.

Eddie Redmayne recently spoke to Cinemablend where he revealed that he had been working on Fantastic Beasts 3 since early September. "We're two weeks in, and again, it's a whole new process. It's a whole new normal. Testing frequently, masks," Redmayne stated.

This is certainly good news for fans who have been hoping for some optimistic updates on Fantastic Beasts 3. After all, there have been speculations that the movie could be delayed due to COVID-19. However, Eddie Redmayne revealed that although they had to stop before they even got started, the break from production had a positive effect on the cast and crew.

"We were meant to start - we'd done a pre-shoot day just before we went into lockdown here. We'd shot on a Friday night, and then on the Sunday night, we'd meant to start shooting proper on Monday, and we got a call on that Sunday night saying we're not doing it," Redmayne said before adding that he feels that the unexpected halt led to good things on the creative side.

"Then we had this six-month period and, absolutely, the creatives - certainly David Yates and [myself] - were talking about using that time. Whether it was in the visual effects or working on things. I think it's really important. You're always trying to make the best work possible, so I feel like it has been helpful in some ways," Redmayne said.

For now, it is unclear if this means that certain things about Fantastic Beasts 3 were adjusted or altered. On the other hand, it is good to know that the film is back on track and could be completed in time for its expected release date next year.

Fantastic Beasts 3 will be directed by David Yates and will bring back Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Claudia Kim, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp. The sequel is currently scheduled for release on November 12, 2021.
