Wynonna Earp season 5 hasn't been officially renewed on Syfy as of this writing. While there is a strong indication it could happen, the future of the supernatural drama remains hanging up the air. A lot of things have changed due to the current global health crisis and the situation may have impacted the series.
Cast and crew want a Wynonna Earp season 5 and beyond, but the decision depends on Syfy. After all, the fate of season 4 has been in question before and that could be the same for the potential next installment. In a recent interview with TV Guide, Tim Rozon (plays Doc Holliday) discussed the series' future.
He said that everybody loves to do Wynonna Earp season 5 but, due to the pandemic and the fact that they almost lost the series in season 4, he might have to say goodbye to his character. The actor added he never takes anything for granted and he always appreciates the moment.
Rozon noted that he didn't want to look back and said he took everything for granted. He described the series as a "special thing" and he does not want it to end. But, since they're filming at the homestead, the actor said he took a moment to walk and take everything it.
He shared that he looked at the mailbox for 10 minutes to take everything in because it's the last time he's filming at the homestead for the fourth season. Rozon said he just wanted to take it all in, just in case it's the last and there won't be Wynonna Earp season 5.
For now, viewers have wait and see whether Syfy will renew Wynonna Earp season 5. The biggest concern here is that the network has a history of canceling shows. Hence, the future of the series remains uncertain until the official renewal announcement is confirmed.
Meanwhile, the second half of season 4 is expected to arrive in 2021. While it could premiere in the first half of the year, the current global health crisis remains to be the biggest filming challenge here. Everyone won't be able to start working unless the situation gets better.
According to CarterMatt, Wynonna Earp season 4 might return in either January or February. The series could have enough time to finish the remaining episodes in the coming months and get them ready in early 2021. Yet, we could see some changes in the series to accommodate the current situation.
